I seriously don't know why Rachel can't simplify her recipes. Everything in her recipes has to have pounds of butter, oil or breadcrumbs. I guess her cooking methods suit her personality...

i was excited to try this, and followed the recipe exactly...spent over $12 on gruyere....my family ate it out of principle the first night and tossed the rest. dont waste your money - too expensive, tastes and smells terrible!

My family LOVED it. It is extremely filling and rich but excellent. I made a few adjustments - used yellow mustard instead of spicy and used italian bread crumbs instead of the rye... my family (except me does not like rye bread.

It was very expensive to make so if you don't think you like sauercraut or reubens don't make it... but it was delicious.

Next time I will probably try it with just swiss - because guyere is EXPENSIVE.

I tried this recipe with left over corned beef from a corned beef dinner. It was fabulous. There was only enough left for me to have a small portion today for lunch. Everybody overate! I will recommend this to all my friends and family.

I followed the directions almost to a T with only one deviation. I used smoked gryere because I watched the show and couldn't remember whether Rachel said she preferred it in this recipe or not. But, regardless of what she said, it was scrumptious! I loved the smoked flavor the cheese imparted and this is the only way I will make it for now on. This recipe is fabulous and surprisingly the kraut (be sure and rinse it well tasted great in it! BUT PLEASE DON'T CUT OUT THE GRYERE BECAUSE OF THE COST. It made the dish. In my town we have three major grocery and one super Walmart store. Like many people I shop mainly at Walmart (the chain that claims to be always the lowest prices and was shocked at the price of gryere--$16 for 5 0z of it! I said NO WAY and went over to Fred Meyer where I picked up 6 oz of smoked gryere for $5.99. One more thing: many people have been put off by the thickness of the corned beef that is called for. I didn't find it distasteful BUT next time I would definitely have the deli slice it much thinner and may even sub pastrami for the corned beef.

Absolutely tasteless. I made this according to the directions and it was was a complete waste of time. I love a good reuben sandwich and everyone said how much this tasted like a reuben sandwich...ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Where are these people eating?? There is nothing good about this recipe and you will just feel fat after eating even small portion.

Really liked this recipe, or the idea anyway. Subbed somethings to make it more cost effective: Canned Corned Beef, whatever cheese I had in the house, a box of regular Mac pasta, cheap spicy mustard....you get the picture. It turned out really nice that's for sure. Gotta love taking a good recipe and making it your own!

I had to exchange a few things but still came out good. I went to a few stores and couldn't find the exact cheese, so I used block cheese, parmensan, and Nacho. But I thought it came out ok... I live in a country area and some things are hard to find.

But since no one in the family has ate a reuben before, it was pretty good..

I still have enough meat and bread to make a reuben.. Now I just need to find a recipe for making a reuben. lol..

But thanks for the recipe Rachael.
