This recipe has potential. I'm from the NC, where bacon on anything improves a meal! The next time I make this dish, I'll bump-up the amount of bacon, cayenne pepper, salt, cheese and scallions.
For those heart-healthy folks out there, have a couple of glasses of red wine with this dish. Hell, red wine with any meal is always a good idea!

I gave this review two stars because it lacked flavor. It wasn't cheesy enough and it was too oniony (which is saying something because I LOVE onions. After the time I put into it, I did eat it for dinner, but i threw out the leftovers.

soooo good. I made some modifications to it though- instead of asiago/provolone i used 8 oz of pre shredded italian blend cheese (which had provolone, asiago, parmesean, and mozzarella in it. Instead of white bread I used crumbled italian flavored croutons. Instead of cooking bacon I used hormel's bacon recipe pieces, just to cut some time down. also my store was out of green onion so i substituted for chives and I used about twice as much cayenne than the recipe called for. everything else I followed by the recipe and it came out perfect! so not a bad recipe, but it's worth a few modifications to make it more flavorful.

This recipe was good. The sauce took a long time to thicken, which could have been because I used cold milk. The flavor was a little bland, needs more salt and spices, but it was creamy inside and the topping was crunchy. Just eat it immediately or it loses the creaminess.

As is this recipe came out dry and lacked flavor. I wish I had remembered to look at the reviews for possible alterations and suggestions. If I ever try it again, I will be sure to add more cheese and pepper.

This was disgusting. I could barely eat any of it. The mix of cheeses was too strong and the topping was dry.

I made this dish for a couples wedding shower and our friends LOVED it! I didn't use as much onion as it called for b/c like some other people said, it just seemed like it would overtake the other flavors. I used 6 strips of bacon instead of the 3(our friend, the groom, is a real bacon lover and I put in about 8 oz of each cheese instead of the 4 oz the recipe called for. There were a lot of steps to the process and a lot of prep work but all in all, it was totally worth it and everybody ate it up so I had no leftovers! I'm making it again tonight for my husband and I since we didn't get a chance to try it at the shower. :

I am new to the kitchen, but pushed aside my fear in hope of making a sick friend something comforting. I also made extra to have at home. Everyone who had it said it was great and I think they really meant it!
One thing: If I make it again, I will increase the sauce ingredients. I think it would benefit from a little more goo. Also, I used turkey bacon, which made it sweet. I don't think that's the best choice.

I made this for my cooking club and everyone really enjoyed it. I've been looking for a really yummy but pretty easy mac and cheese recipe. I will definitely make this again but with the alterations I made last time or others suggested by other people who rated it. I love playing around with recipes and making my own personal changes and seeing how it comes out. I used skim milk because that is what I had on hand, I used provo and mild cheddar because I couldn't find asiago cheese anywhere. I doubled the recipe and it turned out great! I did add some black pepper, extra cheese for my husband who loves cheese and it turned out great! It was a delicious recipe but I expected it to be a lot cheesier throughout. The only complaint I really have is it didn't heat up that well but it was still tasty.
