This is the best oatmeal cookie recipe I have ever tried (I'm usually a chocolate chip cookie snob. The buttermilk makes them come out so tender and fluffy while the spices perfectly complement the oatmeal and walnuts. This has become a staple of my holiday baking the past few years, and when I bring a plateful to work they disappear in less than an hour. As to the technical aspects, I usually burn the milk solids while cooking the butter so I run it through a coffee filter after browning. Clarifying the butter would fix this but I'm lazy. Great recipe!

My dad loves oatmeal raisin cookies, and since I'm broke I wanted to do something super special and inexpensive for Father's Day, so I made him these. We couldn't get enough!! They are best served right out of the oven with a huge glass of milk. They are really rich, so I couldn't really eat more than one at a time. My cholesterol probably went up 20 points the second I even printed this recipe out, but I'm not complaining. They are definitely going to be served at every family get-together from now on! Thanks for the awesome recipe, Paula!

I have been trying to find a really good oatmeal cookie recipe, and I will look no further! These cookies are so tender, moist, and delicious! All the spices really make this recipe one of the best cookie recipes I have ever tried. Then, add the buttery icing! You have a piece of Heaven in your hands (and your tummy!!! Enjoy!

Followed recipe EXACTLY and cookies were flavorful and delicious. I made them for an office birthday gift to a co-worker and had to stop myself, family and visiting friends from devouring them. These are very good cookies. I look forward to making them again and substituting some of the ingredients such as cranberries instead of raisins, etc.

I substituted the raisins for white chocolate chips, and in the second batch used dried cnranberries and added some orange peel when folding the ingredients in. Both ways turned out fantastic, great all around recipe! Thanks

I have just registered and cannot wait to try these cookies, Oatmeal is my favorite, I love the Food Network and Paula! I watch all of the shows and have found many great recipes! More of my favorites are Barefoot Contessa, Michael Chiarello, The Neelys & Giada DeLaurentis. I am looking forward to another great year with them all!
