Excellent recipe! I made this for Thanksgiving and Christmas, my family absolutely loved it. Don't forget to brine the turkey at least 24 hours before preparation, other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

Bird came out great, finished the last hour on weber and hickory smoke.

Bird came out very good but the pan was devoid of any drippings for the gravy, it all solidified on the bottom and was unusable. Probably due to the high heat on the last hour. Next time will add a little broth or water before cranking the heat. Otherwise great technique.

So easy, so good! Turkey was sooo moist and nicely browned on the outside! I rubbed the turkey with sage butter and added some under the skin, stuffed cavity with an orange, onion, herbs. Everyone wanted the recipe. Will use this recipe every year.

Used this recipe for my Thanksgiving turkey yesterday and it looked just like the photo, very tasty and easy. I will use this cooking method from now on and will highly recommend it to all.

First time making turkey and I have to say that this is a very straightforward recipe with great results. I made a 14 pound bird and stuffed it with green apple halves (the apples serve as a cranberry sauce alternative when done. Turkey was golden on the outside and juicy on the inside. After I basted and removed the foil I only cooked for 45 minutes at 425 degrees to avoid burning and the turkey was still fully cooked through. This will definitely be my go to turkey recipe going forward!

It didn't work for me at all. I followed the exact recipe. The Turkey over cooked on the outside and under cooked on the inside. My thought is maybe too many or too few aromatics, or possible it needed to be on a stand in the roasting pan. Whatever. Ruined bird this year. Maybe I will quit trying to find recipes online.

EXCELLENT RECIPE! I've never cooked a turkey before, so I was hoping for something easy. This recipe is it! I went exactly by the recipe except I did add some butter under the skin. My turkey was 10 lb so I went 15 minutes under what the directions called. The turkey was moist and delicious. Best turkey ever!!
