I LOVE this recipe. I found it at least 4 years ago & have used it at least 2 times a year for cut outs (Christmas & Bdays. I have had lots of compliments on the taste & lots of requests for the recipe. I love the fact taht its not a really sweet cookie. I have not used the icing part of the recipe because I make life simple & use frosting in a can. But the kids love the cookie as well as adults. This year I have had 2 people already ask for the recipe. Just a note...I make the recipe a day before I am using it & put it in the frig. Because of the amount of butter used in the recipe u have to man handle it before u try to roll it. But I would be lost if this recipe goes missing. :

This cookie was very crumbly and almost tasted like a shortbread cookie. The flavor is not bad, but its not too sweet. The texture was horrible... very crumbly and grainy. I added toffee covered peanuts which helped the cookie a whole bunch. My friends and I could not finish the cookies, instead we are going to crumble it and use it as a desert topping. I mean, it wasnt even sweet. A sugar cookie should be sweet right?

I was actually very happy with this for a basic cut-out cookie recipe, although I did make a few modifications. I used dark brown sugar (in lieu of light and added in a little almond extract in addition to the vanilla. As far as modifying the technique, I did use a mixer and I just froze the dough in ball form and then rolled it out with flour before baking. I did not pay attention to the 20 minute time recommendation and simply took them out when the edges were golden?this was around 14 minutes for me. While I agree with the reviews that the cookies aren?t very sweet, I thought they provided a perfect canvas for the sugary sweetness of the frosting. I didn?t have any egg white powder, so I just used water and powdered sugar. I added some maple extract to the frosting and thought the end product was quite delicious. I plan to use this recipe again.

This was almost the worst sugar cookies I ever tasted. The good thing about it was the time it took to prepare it. To me it took no time!

I followed the recipe exactly how it said . The dough was sticky and hard to work with. Baking the cookies for 20 minutes is a load of bull because they were burnt to a crisp!!! I baked the cookies for 10 minutes...half the time... and they looked fine. I let them cool off and rest, and when i went to ice them, they fell apart to dust!! I tasted them and they were horrible!!! Some of the worst cookies i ever tasted! And who has ever heard of egg white powder? My god the world is going mad!! Food Network, i expected better out of you.

Cookies should be sweet--these are far from sweet, plus they are tasteless and very dry and crumbly. Directions were followed exactly. Don't waste your time or ingredients.
