So far, this is my go-to meatball recipe for cocktail style meatballs. These are at least "among the best" of the meatballs I've ever eaten. The key is the sauce, which is not particularly spicy, but more sweet and tangy; the lemon gives it a nice citrusy note.

I didn't think this recipe was spicy at all. I read the previous reviews on the sauce before I made it and everyone said it was good, but very spicy. I even added 2 tbl. of sweet chili sauce to the BBQ to give it extra kick. After it was finished, the only spice I tasted from the sauce was from the added ingredient I put in. Very good sauce and awesome meatballs. I also added granulated garlic to the meatballs. Yum-O!

I only made the sauce for a party but wow was it good! I added a little bit of my own BBQ sauce gave it an extra sweet smoky flavor. I also used frozen meatballs quick and easy!

I made these for the first time during a football party. Since then, every time my friends get together they want me to bring my famous meatballs. I am not kidding - they are to die for. The sauce is definitely worth the time. I highly recommend thsi recipe!!!!

The BBQ sauce is very interesting to start off with, I agree that it was a little on the spicy side but I would also say that it takes FOREVER to make just the sauce!! What I thought would take the 55 minutes cooking time actually took a little over 2.5 hours because the sauce has to cook for like 2 hours! Also I made some changes to the recipe for the sauce (cause I have a weak heat tolerance and made the sauce sweeter with and extra tablespoon or so of the brown sugar and about a tsp of honey.
Everything turned out great though! I will be tripling the recipe and making it for a get together this weekend.... Only making the sauce ahead of time!!!

I made these for a friend's shower and they were the most popular food on the table. It does have a little kick of spice from the cayenne pepper. Will definitely make again. Some people even said it would make a good meatloaf as well!

I realize the Neelys like spicy but I found this BBQ sauce so hot in taste I had to dump the entire mixture. My husband seemed to like the meatballs but it was alot of work just to throw out the sauce. Maybe it should read 1/2 teaspoons and not 1/2 tablespoons. It should be added to this recipe that it is a hot sauce. Not everyone likes hot and sometimes spicy does not mean hot.

I recently made this for a super bowl party. It took some time-but VERY worth it! Everyone loved them and they were gone very quickly! They were very moist and delicious! Really, really good!
