LOL - Wish I had read the reviews first. What a salt bomb. Made another batch with 2 teaspoons. Much better!

The salt is a typo. Food network can you fix that?

I have a 12 yr old daughter that loves to cook and she finds recipes on this site. It would be nice if, when a typo is pointed out it could be corrected so a novice doesn't create a "goof".

Obviously 2 tbsp. of salt is a typo, I used 1.5 tsp. of sea salt, and it was just right. Coarse grind corn meal is best for polenta, I also added 2 tbsp. of milk towards the 4 cups of water, and mixed in 1/4 cup of grated pecorino near the end of the cooking time. I cook it for approx. 10 min., using a wisk the whole time. To top it off, I crumbled a couple of ounces of sausage on top of each serving bowl. This was very close to how I had it served when I was in Tuscany last year.

After watching the episode that this recipe appears in, the salt is definitely 2 teaspoons, not tablespoons. Remember that Mario cooks with KOSHER salt not table salt. Kosher salt is less salty tasting then table salt is. Also his style of polenta is loose like cream of wheat, not firm. This is a basic recipe that is easy to modify and add to.

1 part chicken stock and 1 part half & half work better than water for polenta. Also season to taste rather than measure the salt. Begin with a little sauteed garlic and finish with parmesan and fresh parsley for good results.

All are correct: 2 tsp seems to be the correct amount of salt. I had to stir for a long, long time, easily 20 minutes rather than five, unless you want soup.

I tried this recipe and followed it exactly. There is way too much salt in it. I had to thow it away. It needs to be more like one teaspoon of salt. Otherwise it is simple and probably very good.

This one calls for 2 TABLEspoons of salt - dear God don't do that. Use 2 TEAspoons of salt. It is a very bad typo that makes very bad polenta.

I, too, wish I had read the reviews before making it. Way too salty. Will try again with much less salt!!!!

2 table spoons of salt is way over the top!!!!
One taste and is sucked all the water in my body and shoved it into my GI track to reach some sort of osmotic balance.
