I am always compelled to put a spin on things but it was hard to do with this recipe. I've made it for years and have always had great reviews. This time around I was perplexed by a co-worker (it was for an office birthday celebration that does not care for coconut. Imagine that! Not wanting to exclude her I used mini chocolate chip brownies instead with Kahlua. Oh my ... and what a twist it was! Thanks for a great recipe ... it is definitely a go-to treat for my family!

I have made this recipe several times, the first few times I made it, the alcohol taste was a little too strong, but still a lot of people liked it. Then I decided to use a flavored rum, like either Vanilla or Coconut flavored, and it turned out great! (especially with the Vanilla. It waters the alcohol taste down a lot and gives it more flavor!

We had company over diner and we had the tiramisu for the dessert. That I had made I wanted to try out paula's recipe. Everyone thought that it was good kept telling me every chance they got. They would even say they never had or heard of tiramisu. So it was everyone's first even mine having tirmaisu.

This was an easy recipe. Not too comfortable about using raw eggs. The bourbon taste was a bit strong. 6 out of 10 adults liked it. I made this in a spring form pan. If I make it again, I would make it as a trifle.

No, it's not traditional tiramisu, but it's a great spin on it! I've made this recipe several times for family functions, making it 'kid-friendly' using strong coffee rather than alcohol, and rum other times, and no matter what, it was raved upon--not to mention, it's a beautiful dessert. Not all recipes need be exactly the same...that's probably why you are searching this site for something tasty! (For all of you looking up the definition of tiramisu and thus complaining...

Before reviewing this recipe in a negative way, remember that this is NOT a Tiramisu, it doesn't have mascarpone and such. This is a "Savannah" version of a Tiramisu: it is a great and tasty soft dessert that is easier on the wallet, tastes great, easy to prepare and quickly ready (unlike a real Tiramisu. So, please try it, you will really like it! Make your own version if you wish and if needed, look on FoodNetwork for a true Tiramisu recipe, there are a lot of great ones!

This is a wonderful recipe but I knew my guests would not enjoy the rum or bourbon flavor. I substituted amaretto and used almonds instead of pecans. I got rave reviews!

This is incredible! I did leave out the alcohol when I made it. I substituted vanilla syrup and rum flavoring instead. It was so good!! It will definitely become a favorite around here!

I really liked this recipe, however, I would probably try a coffee liquor instead of the bourbon next time.
