This is a really easy dessert to make. You can whip it up real fast and then just stick it in the oven. For me the topping was the best part! Gotta love those amaretti cookies. The mascarpone on the side was a really nice, creamy touch.

I made this today and it was a hit, but I honestly prefer oat topping to the cookie topping. Actually, I think the cookie topping AND oats AND almonds would be killer, but all in all you can't go wrong with this.

I substituted peaches for nectarines and used almond horns instead of amaretti- basically the same thing. I added a about a half cube more of butter to the topping to give it a more golden color. The amaretto liquor was hardly noticeable due to the almond horns, neccessary- not sure...

Finally a crisp that doesn't call for oatmeal for the crunch! I love the amaretti cookies and almonds! This is just all such a wonderful flavor combo with the amaretto and the fruit, the nuts, the cookies...it's wonderful. I did not measure the sugar and flour for the fruit part, but I think I probably did more like 3T of sugar in case it was too tart. I think it was perfect especially with vanilla icecream on top. If it is too tart like some thought, the icecream would sweeten in right up when it melts through it. I made this with some blueberries and nectarines I had to use up and I had everything else already, but the mascarpone. Having used mascarpone plenty before, I think it would be good (perhaps not sweet enough for me, but I just love vanilla ice cream on any crisp and this was no exception. My nectarines were a pain to peel and cut (yes, I peeled them, doesn't sound like that was instructed, but I prefer the fruits soft with an even texture peeled, so I may try frozen peaches as another reviewer did next time.

This was a huge hit with the family! The crunchiness of the topping and the sweet but not overly sweet fruit filling tasted amazing. I tried it with mascarpone cheese and it was good, however I think its best with vanilla ice cream.

A friend of mine at church brought this to our fellowship dinner this past Sunday. It was absolutely great! She substituted plain oatmeal cookies for the amaretti cookies. I heard several people exclaim over it. This one will stay around with us forever! Thanks!
