Perfect little tea cookies. The cardamom gives them a really nice, subtle edge. I made them vegan by using Earth Balance margarine instead of butter and substituting 1/4 c. soy yogurt for the egg. They turned out great!

So I read the reviews before I made these. The common complaint seemed to be that they were dry; so I substituted 2 egg yolks in place of 1 whole egg. It helped to make them less dry. I do think they need some granulated sugar in the mix. As for rolling them in sanding sugar, I used some very pretty silver sugar, and they turned out very pretty. I gave them a 4-star review because they lack a little something in flavor, but look lovely.

Really Good. I was slightly disappointed at first, as they tasted a little bland/dry.. but after a few days - even a week later, I enjoyed them so much more. The flavors came together much better. The cardamom isn't at all overpowering and they are great with tea! Don't hesitate making these too far in advance for the holidays.

really good the next day to have with coffee. i used about half of the recommended lemon zest and that was plenty for me. they come out like shortbread cookies. easy to make.

I was looking for a new cookie, something different and elegant, for the holidays. these were an excellent find. Easy to make. At first I wasn't sure i would like them but that was short lived. These are a wonderfully spicy addition to my yearly cookie repertoire!

A quick disclaimer: I do not bake. I can see anything on television and cook it for friends, most of the time very successfully. But I do not bake. That being said, these cookies were OK. The cardamon taste brought me back to my Swedish childhood. The cookies came out very hard, almost like candy. The taste was OK, but not very sweet. The sugar provided all the sweetness. That being said, I do not bake but wanted to produce a few items for Christmas. The undesired result could be due to my baking inexperience. I don't think I will make these cookies again. I'll stick to cooking as baking doesn't seem to be for me. I can't rate it lower, however, because I might have cause the bad result. But don't make them because of my comment. Check out the others before making a decision.

I had a feeling I would never use the cardamom again once I bought it, so I replaced the cardamom with cinnamon. The result was a nice, light, shortbread spice cookie. I've made these the past few years, and they're always a big hit. Plus, slice-and-bake is always easy to do.

These cookies are great! They aren't overly sweet, which is a nice change. The cardamom makes a perfect unique spice that wasn't overpowering at all. Will def make again!
