Like a deep fried waffle, NOT a great idea unless you love everything deep fried. The waffles did have enough grease to season my waffle maker for the next year! I think the mixture of buttermilk, cornstarch and vanilla flavor might be something worth working on, but all the oil was all we could taste. Couldn't even imagine putting additional butter on the waffle.

Sorry, no. This recipe did NOT produce great waffles, let alone "waffles of insane greatness". While the corn starch idea has merit (this approach is used in bread making as well the yield was limp, non-crispy waffles.

This is my new favorite waffle recipe. I used to make the yeast version that takes all night but who wants I wait 8 hours? What's so great about these waffles is they are as delicious as they are easy to make. No whipping egg whites or waiting all night. They taste great, crispy on the outside, light on the inside. The perfect waffle. I'm officially addicted! Definitely use the buttermilk if you have it. The recipe is small, one batch only made
Two waffles in my big Belgian waffle iron but that's perfect for me and my sweetie. But I'd still double or triple or for a family or just freeze the extras!

This recipe ruined my waffle iron. Beware! If you follow this recipe and do not coat your iron with non-stick spray it will stick like glue!

These are fantastic! I used low fat buttermilk and let the batter sit for about 20 minutes. I doubled the recipe and it made 8 large waffles. My whole family loved them.

I have been making these waffles for years now and they are the best! I use half white and half wheat flour and sometimes I add cinnamon to them. I have never had problems with mine sticking. If you do, it's probably the waffle iron you are using. The only problem I have with this recipe is that you have to let the mixture sit before you can cook them.

Had to write in about the prior review with the nutritional info, as it made me cringe and almost avoid this recipe. Not sure why the major differences, but when I run it through nutritional analysis in Mastercook (and DOUBLED the recipe, then called that "5" servings for larger wafflemakers instead of 8, to be realistic:
Calories: 509
% from fat: 56 (not great
Total fat: 32 g
Cholesterol: 88 g
Sodium: 782 mg
Total carbs: 46 g
Not health food, but not as bad as the prior one made it seem. I'm now substituting "Stevia in the Raw" for the sugar and doing half whole wheat flour as someone else here recommended, which should help further.

These waffles are wonderful, nice and crispy, great vanilla flavor. My kids love waffles and I have tried many recipes on them. I have finally found my go to waffle recipe. The kids loved them and have asked for them several days in a row. Easy recipe, great flavor and texture. Win, Win, Win!!!
