This is the best waffle recipe I've tried. I made it with the buttermilk and I found the batter thick. I used melted butter instead of vegetable oil. Also I mixed dry ingredients first and the wet ingredients and sugar separately before combining.

My only complaint was, because the batter was so thick, I only got 2.5 waffles out of this recipe, next time I will triple the recipe and freeze some for the weekday breakfasts.

These are wonderful. Only thing to remember to mix the dry ingredients well to keep from getting a bite of baking powder. Duh!

The only thing else to remember is don't eat too many.

I've tried this recipe using 2% milk and also using buttermilk. The waffles are super tasty either way, but they turn out better with buttermilk.

In particular, a lot of reviewers said the batter was thin. And I had the same experience when I used 2% milk. But if you use buttermilk, it's noticeably thicker - more like what you would expect for waffle batter.

The resting period is also key. And, using a tip from Good Eats, don't mix the ingredients really thoroughly - just mix until there's no dry stuff floating around but there should still be plenty of lumps (maybe 10-20 strokes. As you let it rest, the wet ingredients will have plenty of time to work their way into the dry ones. If you over mix the batter though, your waffles will have much smaller "cells" on the inside and will be denser.

This is my family's favorite waffle recipe. I can hardly go a weekend without being asked to make these waffles.

I am a huge Rachael Ray fan, and I have tried many of her recipes. I have to say that these waffles are as good as she said! The batter was thin, but that didn't stop them from puffing up and becoming crispy and light in my $7 waffle iron! They were great, and I doubled the recipe to feed my family of four. If you do that you can expect to yeild 8-10 waffles, depending on their size.

These waffles tasted good, but they came out completely flat. I don't know if my waffle maker doesn't work well, or if it's the batter???

These waffles carry the expression you get what you work for and what you pay for very well - these are very easy and therefore the results aren't there for me. However, I have found waffles to be a food where not everyone in a group will have the same preference. I like a bit more bite to mine than this recipe provides - they were just too light and airy for me. And then everyone is using a different waffle iron as well - so results can certainly vary. I'd not recommend this recipe to anyone.

These were good waffles. I will not argue that. I thought this particular recipe was too heavy and oily for my taste. Good, not great.
