One of my earliest DIVINE recipes from Ina. It blew me away the first time I made it that I thought I hadn't tasted anything so delicious in all my life; I'm back to make them again. They were so delectably, over-the-moon indescribable. I also make these on stovetop when the oven in summertime is prohibitive. They turn out great on the stovetop, too!

I have made carmelized shallots before. This was very good and will use this recipe again.

These shallots are fantastic!! For Christmas, I fried up some bacon until crisp, then removed the bacon and sauteed fresh green beans in the bacon drippings. Crumble the bacon and add back to the beans and toss with the shallots. It got rave reviews!! The green beans and bacon taste great with the shallots sweet and sour sauce.

First of all, I'm rating it a 5 b/c I love all of Inas recipes - it must have been something I did. First of all oil was splattering all over me when I was cooking them at first and when they came out - eek, they were just not good. I was so bummed out b/c of all the great reviews. Oh well, I'll just make another one of her recipes.

I WOULD EAT THESE EVERY DAY IF I COULD.
I USED REGULAR SALTED BUTTER AND THEY TURNED OUT PERFECT. IF YOU LIKE CARAMELIZED ONIONS, THIS TAKES THAT TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL.REHEAT GREAT THE NEXT DAY IN MICROWAVE,ALTHOUGH LEFTOVERS ARE RARE! INA, YOU ROCK!
