Wonderful alternative to the traditional mustard, clove, brown sugar recepies. Everyone absolutely loved it.

It was a common belief that "all alcohol cooks off." But science now shows that this is not the case. Just type this on a google search: "Does alcohol cook off" As far as this recipe goes, the alcohol simmers for 15 minutes and is baked on the ham for another 45 minutes, so only 25% of the alcohol remains.

I feel sorry for all you diabetics-in-waiting who think this is a good way to prepare ham.

I watched Alton Brown on the Food Network channel and he clearly stated that alcohol does NOT all cook off. I doubt this would be bad for children but you are incorrect in stating that the alcohol will be cooked off. After all, if I heat a cup of vodka for 15 minutes, it will still be vodka. Do you really believe all the alcohol will magically disappear and leave harmless potato juice behind?

I made this recipe ONE TIME. I'm not sure I'll make it again. It didn't have a BAD taste, but I could REALLY taste the flavor of the Jack Daniels that I used. Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of Jack. Also, the person who said "keep this away from your kids" is crazy! Your kids aren't going to get drunk by eating ham cooked with alcohol. For the millionth time....THE ALCOHOL COOKS OFF! Don't people WATCH the Food Network? This is not rocket science as Emeril would say.
