Although I was a little overwhelmed when I saw the length of this recipe, it was incredibly easy and absolutely impressed my husband!!

I adore Emeril -- started watching him in St. Louis in 1996 and I have been his apostle since then! I made this with lamb shanks when my brother was visiting us in our home here in the hills of northern Monterey County. He was blown away by it! I invested a lot of time in this (as I was recovering from knee replacement surgery at the time, my stamina was somewhat lacking, but the result was every bit worth the effort. The fresh herbs are incomparable. I plan to make this for a dinner party someday. Very rich, very impressive.

I'm sorry Emeril! I usually love your recipes. This one was just okay. I have made other Osso Buco dishes that were much better. I followed it to a tee and I am an experienced cook. I don't know what the big hoo haa was about it, though.

This was the best one pot dish I have ever made! I am going to prepare it for company soon. Now I have to buy Emeril's cookbook!

EXCELLENT!!! I made this for dinner guests and everyone raved about it. The veal was so tender it just fell off the bones. The orzo risotto was full of the rich flavors of the sauce and abosolutley delicious. This recipe is one of the many fabulous included in Emeril's Potluck cookbook. If you don't have it, buy it. It's well worth it!

I have made this recipe about 4 times now and it is so worth the effort. Don't be scared or intimidated by the time needed. My husband and the guys absolutely love this meal. It is somewhat of a one pot dish. It cheats alittle because you brown the shanks in a fry pan before you place the whole mixture in the oven.

I would recommend this dish to almost anyone that loves comfort food.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Tran

This was an absolutely scrumptious dish. The meat was so tender and flavorful, and the orzo plumped up beautifully in the delicious pan juices. I have already recommended, and sent, this recipe to several of my friends. It's definitely worth the steps you have to go through. I will make this one a permanent part of my cooking repertoire. Everyone LOVED it!
