I'm a nurse and am bringing this to work for my dinner break. I grated a potatoe and used dried tyme and one more can of clams. This is really wonderful. I will not have canned clam chowder ever again....

I made this tonight, and added a little frozen sweet corn for texture and it was fabulous! My family LOVED it!

Sondra can't be serious about the producers submitting 200+ reviews in a 1 hour time frame. If she were to look, the reviews date back to Jan, 2005. This was just a repeat as are most Food Network broadcasts. Great recipes, like this one, stand the test of time.

I wouldn't expect a chowder made in 30 minutes could be so good! I followed the suggestions of some & increased the amount of bacon & potato. I also added a bay leaf & some Old Bay Seasoning to the onions & celery which gave this dish an extra layer of flavor. The use of shredded potatoes is a GREAT time saver. If you didn't have them on hand I'm thinking some finely chopped or thinly sliced potatoes would work just as well. I also made the Deviled Ham & cheese melts to go with but I didn't use nearly as much hot sauce as the recipe calls for - it just seems like a LOT! Glad I didn't, it was spicy enough with just several shakes of Tabasco.

Also added more potatoes and more bacon... was very good. Husband is not a fan of chowder, and I'm not sure I sold him on this either, but I thought it was good!

I am allergic to seafood, but turned this into a super easy corn chowder. I do everything up until you add the clam juice and add chicken stock instead, a whole box of stock. I then add 2 cups of corn and 2 large potatoes diced. When the potatoes are tender i put in 1-2 cups of half and half.
