This icing was FAR too sweet. The texture was great, even though I added less sugar than the recipe called for. I find that a higher butter to sugar ratio produces a much better product. This tasted like straight powdered sugar. I certainly will not make this recipe again.

I agree, very easy to make and very good. My icing usually comes out too runny even if I follow the directions. I decided to check the reviews first and found a helpful hint- add the milk slowly. I will be using this one again for sure!

Very easy to make and very very good! So much better than store bought. I used whole milk and added a 1/4 cup at a time. A hit with my family and friends!

The easiest recipe in the world! And of course my KitchenAid mixeer made it even easier. Great base, I added crushed Oreo's & wala, Oreo icing!

I made a double batch of this recipe, I followed some review ie. pour milk in slowly and I added some maple syrup at the end which made it have a smoother taste. I would probably make this again It was a hit with kids and adults

okay, so my sister and i made cupcakes and wanted an easy frosting to make and i am honestly going to say that this icing is HORRIBLE! its runny and all you can taste is the stupid confectioners sugar.
i recommend you don't use this recipe...

I have been searching for a buttercream icing for a long time. My husband is funny about buttercream icing. His mom makes a very good one. but I can't seem to make it like she does. I used this receipe for my granddaughter's birthday cake and it was a BIG hit. I won't use any other buttercream icing. I found what works. You see I'm a baker also for family and friends. I would like to know how to make a chocolate icing using the same recipe. My hat's off to you Colette. I'm going to try your white cake receipe also. Do you have a whipped icing recipe?
