So, this was awesome! But for me, it took like two hours to make!! The dumplings is what made it take so long...I guess I did something wrong...

I also like to use the frozen dumplings, too. In the south they use big fat noodels and up north I remember my grama's big puffy dumplings. The frozen ones are like the southern style. Since I moved to FL this is one of my favorite dishes.

My grandmother made the BEST dumplings ever and I guess that's why I'm so critical. DO NOT USE HER PLAN. Rather, I use egg noodles. The chicken soup is incredible but he dumplings are soggy, flat, and just plain nasty. The egg noodles are quick and easy. Without the noodles, this freezes very well and is wonderful on a winter evening or after a stomach virus. Didn't have celery one night and used celery salt - I liked it; seemed to have even more depth. Great chicken soup but terrible dumplings. If you're going to make dumplings, don't short cut - do it right.

This recipe was easy and delicious! Only recommendation is to make smaller sized dumplings.

I have never done very well with dumplings but after trying this recipe at a neighbor's house I had to attempt it on my own. It is more soup based with a light broth, which I prefer, budget friendly, perfect amount for a just one as long as you love leftovers, and DELICIOUS! The colors are great and make the soup more appetizing than other recipes I've seen. Also, I used Better Than Bouillion Chicken Base for half of the chicken broth that the recipe called for and it is much cheaper and just as good! I cut up the vegetables myself, as it is also much cheaper but I did buy roasted chicken and wouldn't do it any other way. Usually I buy a whole chicken and make my own stock but this was sooooooo much easier and I think better!

this was more like "chicken and dumpling soup". had a good flavor but i will use 1/2 of the broth next time, which would mean 1/2 of the seasonings too and like others, cream of chicken soup instead of gravy. i will also cut the biscuits in 6 or 8 as they were too big.
