hello, can someone tell me what ingredients are for the chicken marinade? the ingredients list runs together and i don't know what's for the chicken marinade and what ingredients are for the sauce.

i would like to try this asap and will leave a more honest review with rating after tasting.

    thanks!

Tyler, you're such a wonderful chef and inspiration to cook better in our own home. We normally love your recipes as is or with very slight alterations for our tastes. But, no, no, no, no, no. This recipe was a complete disasater and disappointment. Too salty, not enough sweet or tang, too much gloppy sauce, and the orange highlight was too light for our tastes. We love your marinade and cornstarch batter for the chicken, but the sauce...we need to go elsewhere. Thanks for inspiring and satisfying us every other time, but this recipe should be rescinded from public access. :-(

Delicious! Loved the fresh cilantro in this dish. Marinating the chicken before placing in the batter and frying adds a depth of flavor! It did take me longer than 30 min. but it was worth it.

I didn't use low sodium soy sauce like suggested, but should have and maybe even low sodium chicken stock. It wasn't inedible, but it was quite salty. My husband who loves Generals said it wasn't sweet enough, so I would add more honey and more brown sugar like one of the comments suggested. I used a Japanese red chili that worked fine. I used three instead of four and it was spicy enough for us. Will do again.

I read all reviews and knew what to look for and what not to do. As far as the deep frying the chicken the first batch fried up real nice. The second batch was alot less coated. SO I added another egg, , and allowed the oil temp to get back up and had Great success.. After that I made the sauce well, I had read all about the low sodium soy, so I got that and only used a 1/4 cup of it. Then I did a taste test. Well, it just did not taste like the General Tso's I had eaten before, so then I was on a mission, I added a bit more honey, and retasted it.. Not quite right, so I added 1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar... AND cooked for about 3-4 more minutes and OMGOSH! It was great! It was sooo good that all three of my kids ask for it the next night. Served with white rice and stirfry veggies. AWESOME DISH! It just needed alittle tweaking. WILL MAKE AGAIN FOR SURE! :

I have been cooking for 50 years, and this is the worst recipe I have ever had the misfortune to try. I won't even list all the things wrong, but needless to say, I agree with every negative comment that was made. Yuck!

In the recipe, never mentions the difference between the marinade for the chicken & the sauce (slurry. The recipe should have been broken down better. I did not add the mentioned amt. of soy. I did add ketchup & more honey for sweetnes & vinegar. Now, it's OK, it is better, but still not General Tso's!

this was a qucik and easy meal to make. i wanted to make it a little healthier so i did not fry the chicken. I didn't have an oragne, scallions or corn starch but it was still really tasty. i used a ltitle flour to thicken the sauce instead and combined it with some stir fried veggies over brown rice. i will be using this recipe again. ps: my husband who loves general tso's chicken loved it!

It still tastes good, but it didn't turn out to what I thought I was cooking. The only thing that makes me happy from this recipe is that my daughter is eating it and my mom is going to clean the very messy kitchen I left behind. If I were you I would rethink about cooking this.

This recipe is easier than it looks (long ingredient list and the results are very tasty. I found a great at-home substitute for take out. This is my husband's only order at a Chinese restaurant and I'm thrilled to have found an adequate home version. His only complaint was that the chicken was not crispy enough, so next time I may try deep frying the chicken in a different batter.
