This recipe is great tasting. and Kamelia stop hating on Rachel. Yes I understand that some of her recipes are not 30 minutes but they still taste great. And some of us "home cooks" can chop that fast. Great Job Rachel! Keep the recipes coming!

This recipe was actually better than I thought it would be...well with turkey I was afraid it might be lacking some ooomph...but not at all. It was fun to make and delicious to eat. The only thing I did different was instead of egg in my mashed potatoes, I put 1/3 of a cup of low fat chive cream cheese....oh my...it was great!!!!

It did it take me longer than Rachael, but I expected that! It was amazingly terrific! I forgot bell pepper and added a dash of dried red hot pepper. Amazing dinner and makes great left overs. I made it on Sunday and we had it all week!

    Thanks Rach!

Can anyone here chop an prep as fast as Rachel can? None of her recipes, or very few of them, can actually be prepped and cooked in the time that she says. Even she said at one time, that at home it can take her longer than 30 mins. She also has said on camera that most of the ingredients are already chopped for her when she is cooking. I am pretty sure it was Rachel who made that comment. When you rate a recipe, you should look at the name of the program as well. It might be a good recipe, but it is advertised under 30 minute meals. Who runs around the kitchen at her speed? She tires me just looking at how fast she runs to fit it into 30 minutes, chopping at the speed of light, and talking non-stop. If anyone feels it cannot be done in 30 minutes, in my opinion, the recipe should have less stars. Also, if someone is making a version of some well known dish, should they not at least try to use the correct ingredients for the classic dish which gave it its name? As a Britt, I don't like the fact that people call anything with ground something (meat or soy or whatever and mashed potato, shepherd's pie. What shepherd ever raised turkey or cow for that matter? Shepherd Pie is made with ground lamb. When beef is used, the name of the dish changes to cottage pie. So, I'm giving her 2 stars only because this recipe might be passable as OK, but it cannot be done in 30 minutes by normal home cooks, and the name of her dish is way off... I apologize to all the people who feel I am being too hard on Rachel and this recipe.

I fail to understand all the complaints about this recipe. No, it doesn't take an hour to chop and prep-Rachel does it on camera in 30! If it's too runny...helllooo, add another spoon of flour mixed w/a little water or milk. But some of us love that gravy. Unless you're a totally virgin cook, you should know to do this as well as TASTE the food for seasoning, if it needs a bit more salt or you want more herbs, then ADD them to suit yourself. Want more veggies, then do it, but don't rate the recipe badly because YOU didn't read the it first and see what was and wasn't in it. Rachel isn't a gourmet cook, that's Ida or several other Food Network hosts, but lots of us appreciate her style, talent and food.

If you are looking for a hearty and tasty meal that you can fix quickly, forget this one. There is no way this is a "30-minute meal". So as long as you understand that at the outset, you'll be treated to a fabulous dish! To cut down on the work and prep, instant mashed potatoes work just as well for the topping, but I added shredded cheddar cheese and this really enhanced the potato topping.

I followed this recipe exactly and it was absolutely amazing! I've never been much of a fan of shepherd's pie, but this one is a big win. I'm working my way through Rachel's 365 recipe book, and so far it is amazing. Thanks Rachel! This is now a family fav!

I tried this last night and loved it. To make it more figure friendly I cut down the oil amount and used fat free sour cream instead. I also substituted the red peppers for mushrooms. YUMMM, thanks Rachel!

I did swap a couple things because I'm trying to use up stuff in my cupboard. Instead of smoked paprika, I used regular but added a can of Trader Joes Fire-roasted diced tomatoes. It added a smokey taste and gave it a bit of a kick. I also folded into the mashed potatoes, some extra sharp white cheddar. This dish is going to be a new favorite. Thanks Rachel!!!!

I see a lot of comments about time so I used my food processor to make the chopping easy and save time. I added corn, this recipe needs more veggies. I also added some Mrs. Dash to add some more flavor.
