I LOVE this recipe. However, I bake an entire 2 lb bag of brown rice at the same time and freeze the leftovers in ziplocks. It's a great time-saver and still takes only 1 hr to bake. I put 7 cups of hot water, 3 Tbsp of butter and 2 tsp of salt with the rice into a 9x13 pan covered with foil. It comes out perfectly every time and is easy to reheat.

I needed brown rice as part of a diabetic diet. I've never been able to successfully make it until today. The only change I made was adding the juices I had left over from roasting some top sirloin. I had about a cup and a half of juice, and added the water to that. It gave the rice a great flavor. Next time I'll use my dutch oven like another cook suggested. This rice will be the jumping point for a number of future dishes!

This is the only way I cook brown rice because I can use it in so many other dishes. There is no pot to watch, no scorching, and it comes out just the way we like it: separate and slightly chewy.

This recipe was extremely tasty and easy. My 16 month old daughter would not stop eating it!! And, she can be pretty picky. Best brown rice recipe I have ever done! Thanks so much.

Oh boy, finally an easy, neat and delicious brown rice recipe. I use a 2 qt. Le Creuset casserole which saves having to use foil. It takes the same amount of time. I cannot wait to experiment with adding all sorts of things: garlic and ginger sound so good to me. I don't add the salt because I make my own dog food and my dog loves it too. Thanks, Alton.

The best way to cook brown rice!!! What a perfect no hassle, no nonsense way to cook rice that comes out perfect everytime! The recipe is perfect as it is, but you can certainly modify it and include beef broth instead of water, mushrooms, spices, the possibilities are endless! Had it tonight w/ Panang Curry w/ Chicken! Made the dish healthier than white rice! Thanks Alton!

Excellent method for cooking brown rice. Also works perfectly with blends like the RiceSelect brown and wild rice blend. Try this!
