I did a combination of these and vanilla rum balls (basic recipe using nilla wafers and packed them up for holiday gifts. The chocolate rum balls are AWESOME. I would maybe add a teeny bit more rum, but if you have time to let them sit for a while (up to a month for vanilla ones, so probably the same for these then the flavor can only get better. Not sure why she has you chill them for a few minutes before rolling - I found that the balls came out much smoother and the sprinkles stuck really easily if they were a little warm, even just from the body heat in my hands.

This is the worst recipe ever..it said 10 mins prep and 10 mins to perform and it took longer than that. Also when I was adding the powedered sugar to the chocolate mixture it became to thick and would not absorb all of the sugar...It basically turned into a batch of powdery chocolaty mess. I tried to make balls and they would not hold their shape or pick up the sprinkles. Do not use this recipe!

This recipe should not call for 4 cups of powdered sugar, it dried it out so crumbly that I had to keep adding more butter so that it could be mixed...they didnt turn out and wasted my time.

The only way this recipe for rum balls really works is if you double the chocolate and rum or use half the powdered sugar. It was messy to make and the sugar got everywhere! However, these rum balls truly became more delicious after sitting in a tin or plastic container for about a month! I made them for Christmas and as I was finishing off the last of them in February (!!! the remaining balls were amazing! This recipe is more chocolate truffle than traditional rumball.

The first time I made the recipe the amount of the chocolate that the recipe called for was not enough. My second attempt at the recipe I increased the amount of chocolate to 6oz of each kind, that appeared to be enough. I placed the chocolate in the fridge and after an hour it still wouldn't form a ball. I finally gave up on the recipe and left it as one big ball in the fridge and the next morning I had an oversized ball of fudge and my family chipped away at it. It was extremely sweet and we could not taste the rum.

These were super easy to make, especially since they do not require baking. They are very rich, so one is really enough. The powdered sugar causes these to literally melt in your mouth. Made these at Christmas and they were a hit with my family!

I followed this recipe and watched the video and had a hard time getting the sprinkles to stick. I tried a few and ended up throwing them away. They taste way to sweet. I will try this agin with less sugar and more chocolate. In the video, it looked like more than 4oz of each

These turned out great - I highly recommend. One of the things I would like to mention is that everything worked out as indicated in the recipe, and this does not always happen with recipes you find on the internet.

One thing, if you watch the video, she pours the melted chocolate into the bowl of sifted powdered sugar. The printed recipe calls for whisking the powdered sugar into the melted chocolate. Probably won't make a difference, but I poured the melted chocolate into the bowl of sifted powdered sugar (and you have to knead it some with your hands.

I also doubled this recipe - and used a coffee measure to measure out the balls. It made 52 of them. So, 3/4 of the way through, I had to put the mixture back on the double boiler to soften it, since I had doubled the recipe.

I started out with a 9.3 oz bottle of chocolate sprinkles from a grocery store that starts with 'K' and used about 2/3 of this bottle.

These were amazingly simple to make and the perfect choice for a cookie party. I agree with others who mention that it requires A LOT of chocolate sprinkles. I found that I needed over 2 containers (1.75 oz each to cover the balls.

The first night, my husband and I were not impressed. BUT, the next day, the flavors MARRIED and the flavor was more balanced. The first evening, the chocolate was the main flavor, but with time, the rum flavor was more balanced.

A great QUICK cookie, although, it almost seems more like a candy. Well worth the time it takes!

Only thing I didn't like was that I ran out of chocolate sprinkles before finishing making the balls! Even without coating they pack one heck of a punch! This was so simple to be so good!
