I thought these were good, but not great. My family raved about them, though, so it could be that it is just more work than I liked for the end result. I didn't have Cane Syrup so I used a glaze of butter, apple juice and powdered sugar, which was perfect for these.

1. Since you have to cool completely and then rest 15 minutes please don't start by heating your oil. 2. Add the water to the butter before you try to dissolve the sugar or you'll get candy. 3. Given how much more work this is than a basic "shred apple into donut or funnel cake batter" recipe I expected something a little more special. It's not. It's good, but it's not worth the extra work to get the same result.
