Great soup and easy to make! I did cut the recipe in half as previous reviewers had; it still made plenty. I will make this soup again - good stuff.

I made this for the first time yesterday. It makes a ton, let me tell you. I've given it 3 stars because although I did not think the flavor was outstanding it was not bad, either. I usually absolutely love anything Giada makes. In all fairness, I am going to make this again after I buy fresh herbs. I have found that when a recipe is consistently given 5 stars by most raters and a few raters think the recipe is bland it is usually related to using old herbs. I suspect that is the case for me. Make this recipe when you need to feed a ton of people. I used my 10 quart soup pot and it filled it almost to the brim. Full of healthy nutritious stuff.

this is the perfect quick soup to make on a cold winter afternoon...its hearty and makes the house smell so good !! i didn't have any cumin, coriander, parmesean rind or celery and it still came out great. i only used about 2 cups of frozen broccoli since i didn't have any of the other veggies. Thanks Giada for another recipe that's molto buono !

I think I'd characterize this as an Italian Chili or a Vegetarian Chili. It's good, but the recipe makes a LOT of soup. If you don't have a big family, you ought to cut the recipe in half.

I am making this now for the 2nd time; hopefully it will be as good as the 1st time. I am exchanging the brocolli, this time, for ~240g of cut green beans!

I made this because a lot of the ingredients were things in my fridge/pantry and I didn't want to go to the grocery store. I was a little skeptical at the combo of veggies/beans/spices, but was pleasantly surprised. It was kind of a cross between minestrone and a vegetarian chili ....
That said, I would probably just make either minestrone or chili next time. Especially because my husband thought it was a little weird (he didn't eat the leftovers, and he usually loves leftovers.

This soup is so flavorful and hearty. I like how the veggies don't come out too mushy and how the different beans add such dynamic texture. The measurement for the chili powder is confusing ((1/2 cup and I didn't even attempt it. I added 3 TBS of chili powder and thought it was perfect. I also put two carrots because I like them so much and it didn't mess up the proportions at all. Brava, Giada!

My husband said this was the best soup I've ever made! The flavor was really robust and tangy! I took a few other reviewers suggestions and reduced the chili powder a lot - I used 2 TBLS instead of the 1/2 cup (which must be wrong. I also didn't use the hot pepper seeds in hope that my kids would eat the soup. I didn't have tomato juice so I used spicy bloody mary mix. I also plan on freezing part so I used fresh green beans (instead of broccoli and added some diced red skin potatoes.
I love this soup because it is hearty, healthy and delicious!!! Thanks Giada!

Very good, and comforting soup! The only thing i might do different next time is add some diced chicken to the soup, since the soup has chicken broth in it. I also didn't use a 1/4 cup of chili powder, that sounded like way to much, i just used 1 1/2 tablespoons. I also served with grilled cheese sandwichs. Cant what to eat it for leftovers!

This recipe is incredible! If you like a spicy soup during the cold winter months, this is it! It is so full of flavor that I never get tired of it. And it's easy to make too.
