This was a very good recipe, I left out the fennel and the flavor was wonderful, my son and husband also loved it.

OMG! Devine!! I served this for company (I used halibut, and they all thought they had died and gone to heaven. Instead of the croutons, I used Tyler Florence's rouille (See his Ultimate Seafood Soup on top. A friend brought crusty rosemary olive bread, and I made a green salad with balsamic vinigrette. What a feast! This is a time-consuming recipe, but so satisfying and worth it. I made it the night before and reheated just before serving, which allowed me to spend more time with my guests. Thanks, Emeril.

This recipe is a little fussy but worth every minute. I love it as you can switch up the seafood as to what is fresh. This is one of my families favorites. If there is leftovers they are better still.

My husband caught fresh redfish today to add to the stone crab claws he harvested yesterday- we added 3 dozen claws to the pot and it was AMAZING!! We have made this without the crab, and it has quickly become a favorite with our family and friends. Have had this dish in several high end restaurants and I have to say that this version of it is by far the BEST we have ever tasted, and our fellow foodies agree!! PERFECT for anyone with access to great seafood as it highlights the ingredients without overpowering the seafood and has just the right amount of spice and flavors added.

Very impressive recipe. While my shrimp stock cooked, I prepped everything for the soup and it was a cinch. In general I followed the recipe as written with exception of eyeballing measurements and using red wine(of which I already had an open bottle rather than white.
Need a recipe that will greet dinner guests with a smell from the kitchen that will kick their appetites into high gear? This one will do it as they walk in the door!
Absolutely delicious and definitely a keeper that I'll make again.

Since I'm currently located in Singapore, it was impossible for me to find fennel blubs! I had to substitute with fennel seeds, which helped with flavor but it would have been nice to eat some fennel instead of fishing out the seeds every so often. Instead of using croutons, I grilled some pita bread with olive oil and a bit of garlic. Some tandori yogurt sauce and you're good to go!
The next time I make this, I'll def. marinate the shrimp in orange juice and red peppers. It tasted too plain next to the fish! (I used fresh snapper. It was also a bit too tomato-y for my liking, but the bf really enjoyed it.

I start almost every review of Emeril's recipes with, Emeril I love you. No exception here. There is also something comforting about how the kitchen smells when this soup is cooking. Followed the recipe without alteration. Perfection. I like to cook it just to smell it as well as eat it, it makes me feel good. My mother commented on it as well also. Aromatherapy on this recipe. And eating it! It's like the most comforting feeling. Leftovers....this soup is addicting. I'm not going to change much for this recipe, it's perfect just the way it is.

I made it for dinner last night for guests. I took a chance, because I'd never made it before, but the recipe looked like a "sure thing." It was! Delicious! My guests raved about it, and I was very happy I'd tried it. I followed the recipe exactly, using halibut and shrimp, which was costly because of the halibut. I'll try it with cod the next time, because I'm sure it will be just as good.

Terrific Fish Soup!! I made this dish three times and each time the soup has been perfect. I used cod, quality saffron and fresh fennel. I used precooked shrimp, so added the shrimp into the pot at the last minute, to make sure hot but not overcooked. Recommend this dish to all.
