I had fresh codfish right off a local fishing boat. I made a couple changes such as a red wine instead of white because that was what I had , I diced chorizo - cooked it separately and added it to the simmering stock before the addition of the fennel and tomatoes. I didn't cook the broth with onions as long as suggested because I didn't have the time. I used clam broth instead of fish stock. But, IT WAS DELICIOUS! Hope it will be as good when I make it again!

I lived in Mexico; there are restaurants in xalapa that are known for their fish soup. This was better than any soup I had while I was there. I did exactly what the recipe said. WONDERFUL!!

I'm a big fan of fish soups and always like trying different versions, and this one will definitely end up in my regular repertoire of recipes. The orange, saffron and fennel make for a lovely, delicate mix of flavors. I used red snapper and orange roughy for the fist, and both blended well with the broth. Just enough spice as well, and easy to control hotness with the amount of red pepper you add.

I followed this recipe exactly, and it came out sooo delicious! It really has a nice balance of the fennel, orange, and saffron flavors.

One of the best soup I'd ever cooked. The layers of flavors really kicked it up many notches! Highly recommended
