If you have ever had risotto, you know it's not supposed to have the consistency of heavy mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, if you make risotto in a crock pot like this without stirring, it steams without properly absorbing liquid and turns the consistency of heavy, wet, gloppy concrete. If making risotto is too time consuming, use a mix. Just don't try to make risotto in a crock pot. IT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK.

comparable to the risotto from my favorite restaurant. But you don't have to pay so much for it! Thanks!!

Hard to believe that a Sandra Lee recipe could be so BAD! This was the worst risotto I've ever made. I blame it on the crockpot and on the bad, premixed rice packet.

Too salty!!! And too heavy and thick -- almost like wet cement.

This recipe chains you to your kitchen! You can't leave for hours! Regular risotto is soooooooooo much easier. Plus with a crockpot you get a thick gloppy mess of a dish and not creamy smooth risotto.

I much prefer this crock pot cooking method because to us, it tasted the same and had the same creaminess, but you didn't have to stand over the stove ladling and stirring for 35-45 minutes.
Great! thx!

I much prefer the traditional way, plus it only takes forty minutes! Much more efficient and the taste is SO much better. Thx anyway.
