I made this and was so excited. But then I took a bite and choked from way way way too much salt! It was just disgusting. I had to throw them all away. When I was looking at the recipe I even said to myself that 1 teaspoon is too much. So I only put in 3/4 teaspoon of salt and it was still too much. Gah, I don't know if my mouth will ever be the same.

Oh and I baked mine and they stay put together nicely. Healthier for you and seems to work better than deep frying.

I agree that if you're not going to rate the actual recipe, you don't belong here. Bobby's Throw Down competitors make their livings in the restaurant business and therefore don't want to give away their best recipes. Granted, not all of us live in NYC, or wherever the throw down takes place, but if everyone who has access to these small businesses can get the recipe to make at home, who's going to the restaurant? For the person whose falafel fell apart while frying, I suggest adding some more "glue." I wasn't sure about the uncooked chickpeas (I'd always cooked them before, but I found that by adding some tahini to the mix, things stuck together very well. Tahini can be a bit dry if it's not blended well, so if that is the case, mix the tahini with some hot water (this works the best or lemon juice into a smooth paste. Roll the falafel as directed and fry until golden. Hope this helps.

Did Bobby use honey in his recipe----I thought he did on the program but I don't see it in the printed recipe. Carol

brother...some of you are just not paying attention.

    Bobby's recipe is good.

the Food Network cannot print the Tiam recipe, they do not have the permission to do so.

and Bobby won that falafel throwdown and finished the show specifically disagreeing with the judges and promoted the Tiam recipe and restaurant.

quit dissing Bobby's just because you wanted the Tiam recipe!

YUM! I love, love, love falafel, and this was a great recipe. I'd actually like to give it 4 stars since it's not the BEST in the world, but I'm giving it 5 because of the morons who rated it 1 & 2 stars because they wanted competitor's recipe instead... I especially like the person asking Bobby to email her with Taim's recipe. WOW. Just... Wow.

By the way, I think none of the competitors recipes are posted here because they're all supposedly the "best of the best," and make their living on their particular dish. So, it makes sense that they don't want their recipes online...

Anyway, Bobby's falafel is great, even if it didn't win the throwdown. Delicious!

I saw this episode and decided to make it today. The mixture has a really excellent flavor. However, my falafels fell apart when put in the oil... they just got smaller and smaller... I took what was left and made kind of patty's out of them and they are baking right now... but what did I do wrong? My oil was hot enough. Why did they fall apart?

Here is an idea, how about, if you didn?t make the recipe or have no intention of making the recipe, don?t post a comment on this recipe. I?m sure that Bobby Flay doesn?t much care, but poor comments by uneducated bloggers confuses others who are legitimately looking for a good recipe and will pass on recipes with poor ratings. I was looking for a falafel recipe, and didn?t open up Bobby Flay?s just because the ratings were not that great, and there were others with five star ratings that I thought I would try instead. The only reason I even opened up his recipe was to see why it would be rated so low, since I?ve made other dishes he?s posted and they?ve been great. Wow, come to find out, the only reason that he got low ratings for his recipe was because a small select group of confused bloggers wanted someone else?s recipe and were upset that it was not posted. Are you kidding me?? Someone seriously needs to take the web rights away from these people. So, we don?t confuse people who are looking for legitimate ratings, not, a one star rating because Taim?s restaurant address was not listed, which by the way, for the really web savvy that posted here, all you have to do is go to Google, type ?Taim restaurant New York, and the miracle of the search engine will bring it up on the very first try. How amazing is that!! I decided that 90% of the reviews here were not reviews at all, so I made this recipe today, and it was very good. So, for anyone reading this, if you see three stars, no one has made this recipe, if you see a one star, it?s from a very confused blogger. In future, try not to post unless you?ve cooked something.

i have been looking for this recipe and am glad i found it! it looked so good on the show and i like that bobby makes it from scratch. even middle eastern people i know use the prepackaged falafel mix and say that from scratch is hard so kudos to bobby for this recipe

p.s. its very understandable that the competitors recipe is not shown since it is part of what she makes a living out of it and she probably doesnt want to risk everyone having it...

and i havent tried this recipe yet but i will soon!

You are my hero. I love falafels and this was really good. I made it some time back. Why don't some of you looking for the other try this one IN FRONT OF YOU?
