Day 2 - another recipe posted differently than what was shown on the air. If you are going to bother to post a recipe that a chef has aired to millions of people, then why wouldn't you post it correctly??
Episode - In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter. Add onion, carrot, and celery. Add salt and pepper. Cook until tranluscent, about 8 min. THEN add mushrooms. Add Bok Choi (ummm...no mention in the posted recipe. Add chicken broth. Add vermicelli (No chicken added to this point. and bring to simmer. Check pot to see it it needs more seasonings.THEN add chicken ("add chicken in last because it's cooked. Add it in too fast, right, and what happens, it gets all stringy on ya!!" Stir until chicken is reheated and serve.
Food Network - you are the main network that I watch. I love cooking and I love trying new recipes. However, it is very disheartening to watch a show and then find that the posted recipe is COMPLETLY different than what was shown.

I absolutely love this recipe and have made it many, many times. My variation is to use radiatore instead of vermicelli noodles. I also sometimes put in finely chopped bell peppers and I prefer cilantro to parsley. But still, a wonderful addition to my growing soup recipe collection!
Thanks for this recipe!

It's -20 here this week and the whole family has had the flu over the last few days. A simple, delicious chicken soup that helped everyone fell better. I added more vegetables to the final product than the recipe called for and had to substitute dried thyme for fresh, but it still turned out fantastic.

I have made this recipe several times now. If you don't think this recipe is simple you shoudn't be in a kitchen. As for the stock I also added a couple cloves of crushed garlic, and I only havled the onions then left the skin on for more color to the stock. I also used a stewing chicken over a frying chicken.

This was an easy recipe to follow. I added two gloves of garlic to the recipe for a little more flavor and I used vegetable stock in place of water. It was delicious.

I am a chicken soup addict, and was tired of being disappointed by canned varities. Never made it myself from scratch. So, after looking at a hundred recipes, picked this one, and yay! It is awesome - with my modifications, of course.
I left out the parsley (not a huge fan added an extra bay leaf and a few more thyme sprigs. Also, added 4 crushed garlic cloves to the stock.
Instead of button mushrooms, I used shiitake and am thrilled with the result.
Also, used a fairly heavy hand with coarse Kosher salt at the end. Tasted at each dose get it right.
Instead of the vermicelli (too skimpy and hard to eat in a soup, I thought I used Amish-style hand made dried egg noodles I found at the grocery store. Perfect.
Takes a little bit of time, but easy and worth any effort put forth.
