I made this several years ago and my family will not let me do the collards for New Years any other way. They are not cooked to death this way and have lots of flavor. I use the beer

Nice simple recipe. Couldn't find smoked turkey, so we used smoke ham instead. I will definitely use this recipe a couple of times per month.

This is the best greens recipe I have made, truly. It was easy to make, had great flavor, and leftovers keep extremely well. If I would make any changes, I would add a bit more of the greens. Another delish dish from Rachel!

I enjoy my mom's preparation of greens like kale much more. She cooks them in a big pot with potatoes and turkey sausage and salt and pepper and that's really about it. I didn't care for the sugar in this, it just gave it an odd flavor and the hot sauce made the smoked turkey cubes turn an odd shade of pink that I didn't care for. But I went heavy on the hot sauce because I like spicy food...needless to say it still wasn't that spicy.

This recipe was a chance for my family who are picky eaters. My husband loved it and the kids at least eat a few bites. Very good and easy to prepare! It's something different to try.

A different approach to boiling greens and not the traditional mix. This dish was easy to prepare and tasted very good!

I doubled the recipe, used 1 lb turkey breast (I bought rotisserie turkey already cooked. I sauteed onions in evoo first until wilted and then added butter and turkey cubes. Let that cook. I used two HUGE bunches of swiss chard, one green, one red. I started cutting the greens, and just kept adding greens, letting it cook down, adding more greens, more greens, and even more greens! Almost 20 cups! I used white wine vinegar (fancy kind and hot sauce, and the sugar... and then BEER! Cooked that baby down pat (I took out a lot of the greens and let the liquid reduce..... let meeeee teeeeelllll yoooooouuuuu... oh baby!! I never had greens so yummy and sooooo goooooood!!!

Loved Loved Loved this recipe. Made it 2x already. Once with green beans and the second time with peas instead of the "greens". It was a huge hit with the family.
