This was a yummy two in one dish. I like cornbread with my Gumbo and this was a perfect combo. Pluss it was made in my cast iron skillet. What's corn bread that's not made in a cast iorn skillet?!

I grew up in South Arkansas and my husband in north Texas - we both love gumbo. But, my husband suffers from GERD, so I don't make spicy foods. This was a perfect compromise. His comment: "great flavor - not too spicy." I altered it abit by using cooked, shredded chicken breast instead of shrimp. I also served it over white rice, and made the cornbread in a separate pan to serve on the side. I added extra broth to have plenty of gravy for the rice to absorb. It can easily be spiced up for those who like it - but it's a great basic recipe with lots of possibilities to experiment. I will definitely use this recipe for company. My husband took a tub of it to work today for lunch - and he NEVER takes his lunch!

I love this recipe. I highly recommenf it, but I do admit - I have to add some Cayenne pepper. Alas, that is a personal preference. Can't go wrong with gumbo!

I'm a challenged cook. This was quick and easy. My husband is not a big casserole person but loved this. Another keeper from Paula.

I like this but in our house we don't eat seafood, so I've found that chicken is a good subsitute.

This is a very tasty meal, that dooes not require much prep work. However, it is a little on the messy side when it comes to serving the dish so the finished product does not always look the most appealing.
