I have to avoid potatoes and dairy but still want something to pour gravy over! (I substituted rice milk This is very good. I'm sorry but I have to say, the dash of bitterness comes from the parsnips not the celery root and neither fat free (corn syrup and starch ladendairy or margarine have improved the healthfulness of your recipe, on the contrary...that hydrogenated oil WILL kill you!

Although easy to make, this was not the exactly the most flavorful. Tends to have a dash of bitterness that came from the celery root. Also a bit too soupy. With some additions in regards to seasoning this can be fine tuned to be an occasional addition to the home menu. To keep it healthy I did use Fat free sour cream, low-fat milk and margarine thus the soupy texture.

This was very good, easy to make, I only replaced 1/2 the milk with heavy cream to give it a little richness. Everybody loved it.

We love the light flavor the celery root brings to this. Extremely easy to make as well. This has quickly become one of our favorite side dishes.

I enjoyed it. It did have a distinct taste, but not bad. It was just different. It was for my mother in law, who is diabetic, and she was pleased with it. Might use a little cheese next time, but over all was good.

This was excellent and so very easy to make. I served it for Christmas as a alternative to smashed potatoes. It was a big hit. With only 5 of us for Christmas dinner, I had leftovers that I used as a bed to serve a calamari tomato stew over--Also excellent.

This was such a simple recipe! Just like making mashed potatoes! The flavor is a little bit more exotic than potatoes. I ate mine with a bit of parmegianno regianno cheese sprinkled on top, but I saved some for tomorrow to try a with a filet and gravy. I think they would be excellent with gravy. The celery flavor sort of dominates the parsnip, and it has an almost earthy bite to it. They come out very creamy if you do them in a mix master. If you need to eat low carb or gluten free but love your mashed potatoes this is an excellent alternative to try!
