This is great. I use swiss because I have picky little ones but it's still delicious. I've made it a few times and haven't had any problems. I love that crunchy brown topping, yum!

This was the hit of our last family gathering and I was asked for the recipe several times. Does it take a little more time than other recipes to make-Yes. Is the Gruyere Cheese a little more expensive than other cheeses-Yes. Is it worth it- Yes Yes Yes!

A delicous "adult" macaroni and cheese. The bread topping added a really nice cruch factor that is missing from your typical macaroni and cheese. The only issue I had with the recipe was that the gruyere cheese was a little pricey, which okay for a special occasion, but not for a normal meal.

I'm not a huge fan of mac and cheese or ham, but I LOVED this recipe.
All it needed was salt and pepper to taste and it was perfect

For myself--I thought this was absolutely delicious!!! I did use sharp cheddar and parmesan because that's what I had, but it was really yummy, and not very hard to make. Took me about an hour start to finish.

My husband liked it okay, but didn't love it. My kids (ages 1 and 2 did NOT like it. I think the tang from the Parmesan was what they disliked, but I can't be sure. Anyway, I was bummed that the rest of the fam wasn't as thrilled as I was about this, so I guess it won't be part of our regular line-up. I'll make it occasionally though, because I really did like it.
