the online recipe was not accurate to what was specified on the show, but even after reading previous reviews and making it properly it was very dry and all the flavors did not come together. it was disappointing and a waste of ingredients

I made this tonight. I saw it served 4-6. It was only myself and my husband. I thought I would make the whole dish so we would have leftovers for the next night. OH GOSH! I have leftovers for a week. It is a good recipe. I didn't have any cottage cheese so I used all sour cream which makes it tart but creamy. I was wondering if I could freeze the leftovers, does any one know?

I happened to see this on the show and decided to fix it for our monthly potluck dinner at Church. Everyone thought it was great. I only had two of the meats, ham and sausage but it still tasted great. It was simple to make but had an awesome flavor. Can' t wait for our next dinner. I am going to make the Southern Cornbread Salad.

We loved this recipe, but yes I am glad I read reviews before fixing, because I had also noticed she used sour cream. I cut the cottage cheese down to about 8-12 ounces, used 1/2 cup sour cream, added green peppers. And obviously you can substitute meats - so I used the chicken - Conecuh sausage to spice it up a bit and shrimp instead of ham! It was great. Oh yeah, and I used whole wheat pasta too.

I saw this made on TV with my husband and he wanted me to make it. I was leary after reading the reviews but I tried it anyway and it turned out great! I did saute the onions first and made sure to add the 1/2 c sour cream that they added on TV. I used small curd cottage cheese to ensure that it would melt completely (which it did since my son won't touch it. I did add more mild cheddar than called for (about 3 cups. Used a rotisserie chicken (easier, cubed ham from the deli section and diced the smoked sausage. Largest I had was an 8x12 dish which it filled along with another dish (a little smaller which I froze. The 8x12 dish fed 5 people (one getting huge seconds, so it coul feed more like 6 or 7. Kid approved! 12yr old loved it and the 5yr old ate all of hers after I picked all of the meat out (only meat she eats is hot dogs. Had lots of flavor, it's a new favorite for our house. Give it a try!

I loved this dish, but I did make a few changes. Make sure to add the 1/2 cup of sour cream. I used light versions of the cottage cheese and sour cream, and used whole wheat angel hair pasta. Also, I omitted the ham and just used 1 whole rotisserie chicken and 4 links of sausage, which I crisped up in a fry pan first. Also, I sauteed the onions with a couple cloves of garlic. Make sure you have a big mixing bowl!! It turned out great!

We did alter this on our first attempt. We have a three year old and try to incorporate veggies and salads in a meal as often as we can so we added peas, corn and chopped roasted red bell peppers. We also cut down on the cottage cheese a little and added the sour cream. I was worried about the cottage cheese, since I really don't like it , but in melted during cooking. This was so good and so simple to make. The only problem we had was the mixing bowl we started with was too small. Our son asked for this for lunch and dinner for about a week after we made it the first time. We love it!! Thank you.

My kids & I saw Paula make this & it looked good so I decided to try it. I'm glad I checked the reviews 1st so that I knew to add the sour cream. I used a smoked sausage and leftover honey baked ham, along with chicken that I had marinated - maybe that's why mine had so much flavor. I thought it was very tasty! The kids enjoyed it! I also used a HUGE pot to mix it up as it was very messy! This one is a keeper - easy to make & it goes a long way!

After reading the other reviews, I decided to make a few adjustments as well. I used ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese, added 1/2 can green chilies, and spices. It was ok-not a whole lot to it-I thought my 6 & 8 year olds would love it but it was just "ok".
