Made as directed, substituted corn for shrimp, used exact same method, boiled kernels in water then moved to big pot. Also used milk instead of half and half. As everyone said, potatoes took approx 30 mins to soften, maybe Paula cubed them smaller than I did. I added about 3 strips of chopped cooked bacon to soup pot and then a bit of Mexican cheese blend on top of each bowl as garnish. Husband loved, as many reviewers also said. Next time will try both shrimp and corn.

First time having potato soup, very pleased. As someone mentioned I added a bit of Cayenne to spice it up and I did not salt the water, as sodium is an issue, still very flavorful. Left me satisfied and full but did not sit heavy in my stomach.

I was surprised how easy and tasty this recipe is. I will definitely make it again. It took about 30 minutes for my potatoes to soften.

I have never had luck with potato soup and thought I would give it one more try. Made it for my daughter who just had surgery and is on soft foods right now. My potatoes didn't want to cook down so I ended up mashing thoughs little spuds. It still didn't turn out the way I had expected and I'm sure that is on my part not the recipes. Just not as creamy as I had expected, my daughter and my son says they prefer the consistency that it has. But everyone just really loves it. My daughter said it was the bomb.

I made this soup for dinner tonight. It was absolutely delicious! I use a gas stove...cooked on the smaller burner to keep the milk from scorching...cooked on medium heat and it took about 55 minutes for the potatoes to be cooked perfect. I constantly stirred the soup to make sure it wouldn't burn. I added some lump crab meat being I had some leftover from making stuffed mushrooms. Loved the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on the on the soup. (Not sure if I would...make sure you add it to your bowl...worth it! Paula this is another recipe added to my kitchen! I do my fair share of cooking...but, this is the first time ever...I have cooked homemade soup...! Turned out great...!
