I prepared this dish for the holidays last year and I'm preparing the dish again for Thanksgiving 2006. The green beans turned out so well and tremendously delicious, if I do say so myself, that their on the menu again. Thanks Paula!

When you get tired of crispy green beans, try this for a change. The taste is wonderful and it's a great comfort food.

These green beans remind me of growing up in western Oklahoma. Our church members there loved to have pot-luck dinners and there were always green beans cooked like this. Homegrown green beans...and even the bacon was homegrown.
Over the years I haven't even thought about fixing them this way...I guess the convenient Jolly Green Giant is partly to blame. But now that I often fix them this way, my family enjoys them more.

These remind me of my grandmother's beans. I used fingerling potates instead of new potatoes which cooked a little quicker. The butter really makes a difference!

WOW! Best green beans I ever ate. I never expected the combo to taste so
good. My guests thought they were very
good also. The combination of beans, new potatoes and salt pork cooked in the
chichen broth were awesome. You got it
right on the nose, Paula. Kwwp them coming. Luv ya.

Although I didn't have the broth and had to use water, and I used all bacon as I didn't have salt pork, this was delicious. I can't wait to make it with all the ingredients. When I asked my husband whether or not Paula's was as good as his sister's, he said it he wasn't going to do a comparison. However, her leftovers sat in the fridge for a couple of days before we tossed them. He ended up eating these leftovers straight from the fridge a couple hours after dinner, congealed fat and all. Thanks Paula.

Too salty and I love salt. I would cut down the amount of house seasoning in 1/2

This is now one of my favorite recipes! When fresh green beans were in season, I made this at least once a week. I do use the cast iron skillet, and think that helps bring back that old timey taste. Thanks Paula, you haven't failed me yet girl!! You are the best!
