This makes the second time I have had to look up this "Wonderful" recipe. I filed the first and could not find it. I LOVE these green beans and even when we are having mashed potatoes I add the new poatoes because there is always someone that will pick them out and eat them. As to the remarks about the green beans being mushy...any good southern knows that green beans and new potatoes are alway the best about the 3rd time they are warmed up! The flavor just gets better and better. LOVE THEM Thank You.

I'm starting to think Food Network Stars don't actually cook some of the recipes the network places on TV. Growing up in the South - this is a great dish- fresh green beans, pork fat, potatoes - what's not to like about that?

Unless you think there is anything appetizing about eating fresh green beans that have been cooked over high heat for 10 mins - then stewed for 1 HOUR MORE? Could have just as well been eating green beans from a bad "boiled food" diner in the Atlanta airport.... Mine were mush after just 40 minutes.

Recipe is great - just be careful on your cooking time with the beans. Add your potatoes when the beans are al dente - otherwise you'll end up with a mushy mess upon completing the 'poatoe' stage. Also, I had to cube up my red potatoes (1/2 in dice so they cooked properly in the last 25 mins.

Loved this recipe. The only issue I had was that I did not have fresh green beans so I used frozen and they are too mushy. Other than then everything has great flavor and I plan on making this a staple in my house.

We omit the potatoes in this one for a great vegetable side that's easy to make and very delicious. The recipe makes a lot, so we are happy to have left-overs which save well.

Saw salt pork at the market today for the first time. Came home and did a recipe search. Had everything for this recipe. It is sooooo yummy. I did not add salt and am glad I had unsalted butter on hand. It was way salty enough with the low-sodium chicken broth. I loved how when all the broth and butter cooked down, it just made a luscious coating for the beans and potatoes. This one is a keeper.

We loved these. We also fried up 4 slices of thick bacon and cooked the green beans in that. My husband wanted to put the onions in then - didn't but think we will next time. Our red potatoes weren't the little tiny ones so we cleaned, peeled a strip, and cut into quarters. Next time I'll just clean and quarter. We rushed the cooking time too. They were a huge hit. I bet they will be even better tomorrow. Needless to say, we will be making these again and again. Thanks Paula!

I brought this dish to a neighborhood dinner party that featured poached salmon. Everyone loved the dish and it totally disappeared. I changed the recipe a little to reduce the fat content. I used 3 slices of thick bacon( cut into bite size bits which I browned in a dutch oven to render the fat and crisp the bacon bits. I cooked the beans a bit shorter time than recommended before adding the potatoes. Easy dish to prepare and a big hit. Will clearly make again.

I replaced the salt pork with 4 pieces of crisp fried bacon - wonderful - I cooked them in Grandmas chicken fryer, we were so stuffed and had leftovers for two days., First time I've ever used bacon grease in beans - always now.

this is the first time I ever made good green beans! and man were they ever GOOD! I have tried to make fresh green beans in the past and they tasted really blan, but this recipe is terrific and everyone loved it and the beans where so full of flavor, the only thing next time I will make sure not to add to much salt and maybe I will add some ham like one of the other reviewers did, that sounds tastey. I love this recipe and will make more for sure
