This recipe is excellent, but I don't like the potatoes in the mix. I made it without them, and the green beans were great!

When I first saw this the other day, I knew I had to have these. This dish reminded me when I was a little girl. Since I didn't have the ingredients, I had to improvise . I had to use flash frozen green beans, bacon and regular potatoes. I did use the chicken broth though.I let them cook for about 2 hours. Since my recipe and cooking method wasn't like Paulas, I wasn't sure how they would turn out. They were wonderful. Everyone loved them and came back for seconds. Next time I make them, I will use the correct ingredients and compare. Good job Paula!

Have totally fell in love with this recipe and have made it a few times for friends who couldn't believe that I actually cooked it myself. Not being from the South I am having to learn how to cook like everyone here as well as introduce them to Califorina style eating, it has been fun for all.

The green beans and potatoes were very
tasty together. My family enjoyed this
recipe very much. This is a definite
keeper. I followed the recipe exactly
as is.

certainly tasty, a bit greasy, perhaps too much butter, and I wonder what on earth was left of all the vitamins in the beans after so much cooking. I have always wondered how the great ta
sting beans were so limp. Now I know.
