This was fantastic! I've made shredded pork before but it never came out this good. I followed the recipe exactly and I think it's just right. I used all the salt, kosher salt, and it wasn't too salty. I used all the garlic and it wasn't too garlicy. I didn't add any brown sugar to the rub as some have modified here and I'm glad I didn't. With the brown sugar and the ketchup in the sauce, it would have been too sweet. I would highly recommend leaving this recipe as is!

OMG! This was sooo good! I had a 10lb pork butt and doubled the seasoning and beer. I didn't need to make a sauce! My husband didn't want it. The pork was seasoned perfectly!!!

My fiancé and I love this recipe!! It's our go to every time we have pork. The only change I make is to the sauce , I use a stout beer and add molasses and then vinegar and cayenne to cut the sweetness. I also finish mine in the crockpot on low for 6-8 hours after browning it in the oven.

Did everything the same except I finished it in a slow cooker. (I used paprika instead of chili powder though incase it would be too spicy for the kids
After it was all cooked in slow cooker, I cleaned the sauce by using a strainer, then poured it into med pan. Sauce does not need to simmer for 20 minutes! The larger surface area your pan is, the shorter time the sauce needs to simmer to thicken. Mine took only 10 minutes & it was perfect. I longer you simmer, the saltier it will get since reduction=concentration.
I used a 2.5-3 lb. pork butt & still had to brown it in the overn for about 40 minutes. In the end, it did make a really nice crust.

Really good. I used chicken breasts and thighs, browned in a frying pan, finished in a crock pot. Worked out great!

Even though I messed up, this came out delish! I totally forgot to poke the holes in the foil!! I was so mad, I thought I ruined it. I also thought I didn't have time for the one hour marinating, so I didn't (I had read another recipe and was thinking 6-8 hours cooking and got confused This truly does only take 2.5 hours! We all loved it, the sauces, spices, everything was great. Although, it probably will be even better next time when I marinate, and poke the holes in the foil!!

Wonderful! Only one change...lessen the amount of salt in the rub.

Yummy! I too added brown sugar and cayenne to the rub. I blackened it in the oven and transferred it to my crock pot on low for 6 hours and it was perfect. I also made the BBQ sauce which my husband loved due to no vinegar lol. Would make again!
