Made it for superbowl yesterday and it was just ok. The only thing I did different other than using 4 cups of broth and 2 cans of beans was to deglaze with red wine. It was a Pinot so maybe it should have been a hardier variety. Needed seasoning even though it sat over night. See if I can doctor it up for tonight

I love the flavors. I mixed the spices with the onions before I added the meat. They seemed to blend in more evenly.

I absolutely love this recipe. We have made it about 6 times and I just gets better and better. Recommendations: 6 cups of broth rather than 8, 2 cans of beans, not one and a touch of cornstarch at the end because I like it a little thicker. Really though- the flavor can't be beat!

It was tasty after I tweaked it. However, I should have read the reviews prior to making it as I used the 8 cups of broth and it was too soupy. I ended up draing most of the liquid to get it down to a suitable amount. The flavor was good but since I drained most of the liquid, it lost some of the flavor. It may be better tonight as with most recipes after sitting overnight. It was not the traditional chili I am used to having. I was really disappointed. I will never make this again.

Ugh... Ok so about probably about 3 or 4 years ago maybe a bit longer I made this awesome chili from Emeril's I think it was the Kickin it up series I think on one of his episodes for Christmas Emeril had while he did his exclusive show's on the Food Network before he went to his own network... Anways, it was one of his chilies that he did both vegetarian and meat Chilies and both soups was slow cooked but the kicked up part was it was simmered I believe with Red WINE??? It could have been simmered with beer but I swear it was with wine!! It was the best Chili I have ever had and made!!! If anyone knows the recipe or knows what I am talking about please post it so I can put it in my recipe box!!! Ugh I have been looking for this recipe for a long long time and can't find it!!! Please help!!!

I love this chili, I use just good lean ground beef instead of the beef chunks for a mote traditional chili and it turns out super every time...delicious.

I am giving this recipe 4 stars, only because it did need tweaking. But the end result and flavor, with the tweaks, it was a 5 star! As other reviewers stated, one must reduce the amount of the broth by half of what is stated. I used 4 cups and it worked out well. I also added some chopped green bell pepper and a small can of mild Mexican green chilies. Since we like the dish to have a little heat, but not scorching, I used 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes and 1/4 tsp of cayenne. That suited us very well. The condiments at the end, are fabulous (minus the jalapenos and truly make the dish outstanding in flavor and very colorful. All and all, this is a very good chili recipe. My husband loved it and it was a great ending to a very stormy day. I will definitely make this recipe again.

My husband and I just made this chili for a cookoff we are having next weekend with friends. We did not add the beans but added green peppers. We love it (especially on top of the chips and think have a winner.
