If you are cooking this recipe in a nonstick skillet, you might want to cut back on the grease and watch the cake closely. One other tasty modification is to substitute onion poweder (about 1/2 tsp for the nutmeg.
Wringing the water out of the potatoes in a clean dish towel (as shown on HTBW is essential to the success of this recipe.

The cake turned out OK, but I think I may have had a little too much potato. It probably would have been helpful to have an estimate of about how many potatoes to use rather than just the pounds.

Grating was easy to do, but the receipe did not mention to squeeze the potato that is grated to remove the water. I tried cooking potato cake in one pan then flipping into another larger one. Worked okay but losen the cake alittle before flipping some of the crispy part stayed in other pan. Will try this again. It does taste good.

THE most important step was omitted in the receipe steps. You MUST strain the potato mix in a towel to remove all the water from the potato. Otherwise it will be mushy in the skillet..

These potatoes are great! But - be sure to use an old dish towel since the potato liquid really stained my towel and very hard to get it clean.

Good flavor. A little hard to turn to get other side brown.

It was great and I learned something today by watching the show, and that was to drain all of the water after grating the potatoes. However, in the recipe, that process was not mentioned.

Wow, this one was a hit. Took some extra time to squeeze out the liquid from the potato, but well worth the effort. We added some hot sauce and it really spiced it up three notches.
