I really liked this and will definitely make it again! Good comfort food. The parsley-zest topping was well worth the extra effort. The orange flavor is wonderful! I think it would be great for a dinner party (with semi-adventurous guests because everything can be made ahead of time, except the eggs and toast, but the presentation is still impressive.

Turned out to big a Big hit with my boyfriend and his friend. The garlic bread adds a nice bite to the soft froathiness of the poached egg. I made my own veggetarian version once. Removed the sausage (added more veggies and substituted chicken broth, for veggie .AMAZING!

YOU ARE DUMB RATING A RECIPE USING MOUNTAIN DEW INSTEAD OF CHICKEN STOCK... HELLO? The two flavors are very different, so how can you judge a recipe if you didn't follow it? I can't stand people that do that! ANNOYING.

This was a very easy and comforting meal. The stew is good on its own, but the garlic crouton and poached egg really make it special. The only part of this meal that didn't turn out well for me was the parsley and orange zest topping. I think I zested too far into the orange rind, which made the topping bitter. I ended up just sprinkling plain chopped parsley on top of the stew at the end and it still tasted great.

I recently made this for the first time and loved it! I did not however, add the bread on the bottom nor the egg on the top. I wish I would have though but as we made this for dinner, the egg seemed a bit much. We did do the garlic bread on the side but next time I'm going to put it on the bottom. The kids thought the chorizo sausage was a bit spicy but I thought it was just right. Great Recipe and very easy to make!

This recipe was great! My husband and I are vegetarians so we substituted the chorizo for vegan "chorizo" and the chicken broth for veggie broth. The end result was delish! It took a lot longer to cook the potatoes and carrots than just 10 minutes though.... but cooking it for longer was fine. The bread/crouton on the bottom was awesome, our favorite part. The poached egg on top was tasty and at least now I know how to poach eggs easily!! LOOOVED the trick with the vinegar. We'll definitely be making this again.... and changing the ingredients up as well. We love garlic bread on the bottom of stews now! :o

I loved this. I used ground Indian sausage from my local supermarket, but I think any type of yummy flavorful sausage would work. Make sure your veggies and potatoes are thin and uniform.

I didint have canned tomatoes so i used tomato paste and fresh tomatoes - seeds removed. I added a little dried thyme - but not too much. I used a turkey kielbasa from Trader Joe's. I also added a lot of fresh ground black pepper when the onions and celery were sauteing. Added a little white wine too and some scallions towards the end.
Since i didnt have any parsley - I substituted with fresh cilantro to which i added the zest of lemon and orange for the garnish.
I cant have wheat so - i just ate it without the bread. The eggs turned out great - GREAT TRICK about the vinegar in the water for the poaches eggs!!!!
It was yummy - and the veggies taste even better the next day!

Fantastic and looks quite fancy. Make sure the potatoes are sliced very thin, or they will take too long to cook. The sausage you use will make a big difference in the seasoning of the finished product. I tried andouille sausage and got a nice spicy flavor (maybe too intense for some. I cheat and use store bought croutons to simplify the recipe. The leftovers (without egg are delicious!
