I had no idea how bland some store bought tapenandes could be until I tasted this recipe.

I didn't realize when I posted, I was under my mothers account ... this is my review (not hers:

I am not a fan of anchovies. I used them anyway and could not tell one bit. I forgot to purchase the basil so I used Cilantro instead. It turned out great!!! A jar in the store would have cost three times more than what it cost for me to make it since the only additional item I had to purchase was the olives. I used Kalamata. Thanks Alton. Love your recipes. Easy to follow and it turns out great.

My husband and I love this recipe. We love olives, but this is an especially delicious and easy way to enjoy them. I am fortunate to live near a very nice, new Whole Foods with an olive bar. I visit it often. Thanks, Alton!

Eye balled everything, minus anchovies. Used Thai basil instead. My olive tray had a few marinated artichoke hearts in it, so I threw those in with the olives and everything else. SO GOOD! Spread thick on a toasted roll with thinly sliced smoked chicken.

I love this recipe. Tastes just like what you would you pay big bucks for at an upscale eatery. So easy too. Will make again and again.

I used the recipe, but I left out the anchovies and the basil because I don't like anchovies and I made it in advanced. Travels very well. Make sure that you chop the olives fine enough and stir before serving.
