I made this using provolone cheese, multigrain bakery bread, and thin proscuitto ham. For my own special touch I added mushrooms sauteed in a little butter, placed on top of the ham. It came out delicious. I did not need to add extra salt or pepper since it was on the egg. Definitely would make again--I have had the real thing in Paris and this recipe was just as delicious.

I saw this episode and could not wait to try this sandwhich! So easy it's something I make all of the time but with the cheese and the egg! Who would have thought something so simple to make could be so amazing! It's a Sunday favorite now...with or without the egg! Thanks Paula!

This was wonderful; fun and easy to make. Absolutely delicious with a glass of riesling for a quick weekend supper. My very picky boyfrind was practically licking the plate. : Also should mention that I used cheddar and american cheese instead of swiss, due to aforementioned picky boyfriend, but think swiss would be amazing also.

As with all things French, it can be improved upon, and Paula did... I added mayo to the mustard and WOW!

My husband and I love these sandwiches and make them often. We substitute ciabatta bread and swiss cheese. The mayo and egg make these extra delicious. Thank you, Paula Deen!

So good. Since this sandwich is so rich--Paula makes the French very proud--I split it and had it with a green salad. Great Saturday afternoon lunch! If you don't like mayonnaise, then use Dijon mustard! Still delicious! Thanks, Paula!

A traditional croque madame had no mayo, a discusting southern thing I guess, and has a Bechamel or Mornay sauce added to it. This is vial. It's like putting mayo, lettuce and tomatoes on a Philly!

Thank you for another great meal. We just finished the sandwiches - not a speck leftover. This was just a great Friday nite, super easy, end of the work week dinner. Served it with some tomatoes, basil, salt and pepper marinted in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Easy perfect meal. Thanks for makin' me look so good. Keep 'em coming. We are all watching. Love, B
