I started with fresh apples and sauteed in butter, sugar and cinnamon, then poured the batter over the apples. It was quick, easy and very tasty!

Thank you again Paula Deen!!! My goodness this was yummy. I've read a lot of bad reviews and can't see why. I used what I had on hand... one 21oz can of pie filling. Plus my kids aren't a fan of the eggy flavor of the Dutch Baby Cake, so I used 4 servings of homemade pancake mix & just added the sour cream and lemon zest to it... can I just say that my 5yr old daughter commented on how the lemon flavor was "nice and different"! This recipe is definitely going to be a go to recipe in my house. We definitely could have used a few more apples. :

I too thought that the batter recipe didn't match the amount of apples. I understand that cooks change recipes just a tad so there secrets are not out. I think next time I make this I will use my very own pancake recipe and keep the idea of the fruit at the bottom and then bake it. Mix and match with the idea and I think it will be wonerful.

i made this for sunday morning breakfast and was sadly disappointed. It did not rise and was pretty flat. Not willing to make it again. Followed the instructions and it did not turn out. Too much pie filling and not enough information on the can oz.

I made these this morning for my family and they were fabulous! I did saute up fresh apples in butter, brown sugar and cinnamin and used prepared pancake batter and had to bake for 40 minutes. They turned out fluffy and golden brown. Great recipe Paula! Thanks! As for the haters out there, do you seriously have nothing better to do then sit around and judge others? God doesn't judge and neither should you!

not acceptable.not enough pancake and poor seasonings.I'm suprised paula would find this recipe up to her standards. I had to scrape off the top pancake and use the apple filling for some quick tarts
