This was very tasty. Even my picky husband and children liked it! I left the nutmeg out of the sauce because I think that it is gross in a sauce like this. The way I made it, the sauce was so good, I couldn't keep my hands off it.

I've been making croque madame for awhile, but never with a sauce before. The first time I made this, I was apprehensive and so I served it on the side. After one bite, my husband and I poured the rest of the sauce on the sandwich and it was AMAZING. The sauce complements the flavors in the sandwich, but does not overwhelm. This has always been one of my husband's favorites, but now he asks me for this meal more than ever!

This recipe was so simple and tastes amazing. I didn't use the sauce though. If you like yolk cook eggs as is. I don't like yolk so i scrambled before first (like an oamlet it was great that way too. I eat is as a quick breakfest or for a snack when i get off of work, all in all it was wonderful and i wonder why i haven't thought of this.

I've made this several times with a few different cheeses and deli meats (Sara Lee honey maple turkey is my fav and they have all came out great. I'm a pretty active guy and eating just one of these makes me pretty full.
One thing that I have refined is the amount of sauce, I usually use about half as much. All around though this a a good quick recipe that I will make many more times.

I have to admit when I tasted the sauce by itself i was skeptical...but it's perfect on the sandwhich. It really compliments the ham. I used american cheese becasue it was all i had and I hate swiss anyway. I will make this sandwhich again. It was perfect for lunch or a light supper

I wish I'd left the nutmeg out of this dish. It ruined the sauce and thus ruined the croque.
