I had this at a party this weekend, and the roasting of the tomatoes before hand really added both flavor and a nice texture..... can't wait to have this again while tomatoes are in season.

Watched the episode where this was made the other day and thought this would be a nice appetizer before dinner one night. The wife and I thought it was missing something in the flavor profile. I snitched one of the tomato halves when I pulled them out of the oven. The warm tomato tasted a lot better fresh out of the oven. I mention that bacon bits might be what it is missing, but then my wife reminded me that I think everything taste better with bacon. I used a high quality Italian olive oil and balsamic vinegar that I have been using for a few years so I know that is not the problem. I am going to make this again, but serve it warm right out of the oven.

This is an incredible dish! I could eat it every day. It can be served alongside either a casual dinner or an elegant one. Set the cooking time for roasting and forget it.

This dish was disappointing. It lacked the fresh taste of caprese salad. The tomatoes were soft and overly sweet. It was not well received by my dinner guests, however I am going to turn it into a tomato sauce for pasta and believe it will be quite nice. I am a huge fan of Ina Garten's recipes -- this just didn't cut it for me.

Amazing! I had a half an onion I had to use up so I sliced it and roasted it along with the tomatoes. This is a great summer or winter side dish. We had it with steaks and bread. Will be making this again!

Wow, I have always loved caprese salad, but I will never make it another way again. I did core the tomatoes (personal preference and had to roast about 2 1/2 hours, but I am at a higher altitude and everything seems to take longer to cook.

I have now made this recipe several times, always a hit with my whole family! The last time I made them, I used 2 pkgs grape tomatoes and halved them and then 2 containers of the pearl mozzarella balls. It was a Great side dish!!!
