This recipe was a huge hit for Father's Day! It took a little more prep time than indicated, but was well worth the time and trouble. Actually, the marinated and cooked shrimp WITHOUT the sauce was delicious as well (Dad and the boys were hovering as I prepared it and would be a great option for a main course. The sauce adds a kick to it. Since I was grilling steaks at the same time that the shrimp were cooking and didn't have access to the grill, I used the oven broiler (about 2 1/2 minutes per side and it did a great job.

This shrimp cocktail is amazing. We make it for every party, and it's always the first thing to go! This is definitely a keeper! For those not using the orange soda, you're missing out!!!

My sister-in-law has been making this for years - she's from Puebla Mexico. It's absolutely AMAZING and was a huge hit when I made it for friends this New Year's. One change - we didn't spice or grill the shrimp...just added cooked shrimp to the cocktail mix. Superb and super easy!!!

Years ago, I dined in a little Mexican restaurant on the gulf coast of Texas. I was served a dish called "Mexican Shrimp Cocktail". It was wonderful....served in a tall beer glass with slices of lime and lemon and saltine crackers on the side. I asked the waiter (who spoke no English what made it so good...he tried to tell me (I speak no Spanish and finally brought out a bottle of orange soda to show me. Fabulous recipe, Guy. You hit a homer with this one!!

Made this today. Used frozen shrimp cause I didn't have time to marinate and grill. Also used store bought pico de gallo from the produce department instead of the cucumber, cilantro, and onion. The pico had tomatoes, cilantro, onion and jalapenos in it. Did'nt bother to be exact with the measurements, Just put in what looked good.Tasty!!!

Have served this twice now. Once to friends while on a fishing trip and again to friends and relatives. Both times it was easy to prepare, extremely tasty and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it all. I would highly recommend this recipe for those who like something different in their appetitizer menu.
