these aree so delicious! i made them for a dinner with friends and there were no leftovers!! I made some cream cheese icing and put it over the top and they were delicious! I did skip the orange juice and I added more sugar, but the rest of the recipe I followed closely! Wonderful!

Bland and the pastry was tough. Also, pastry absorbed the moisture from the filling.

I love you barefoot! I watch you almost everyday at five, it really can't be helped. I don't like apples, so I used strawberries, dried cranberries, and some blueberries instead. The recipe still came out great and tasted even better straight out of the oven. Thank you barefoot <3~

I loved watching Ina make this recipe. It was even easier to make it myself, it came out so beautiful and flavorful. It reminded me of how much I just love to bake.
Thank you so much for this recipe

Well, I was anxious to try this recipe and didn't have any apples. But, I did have 3 over ripe Bosc pairs so I tried it using those and dried cranberries (not the sweetened craisens though Added a little extra sugar, as other reviewers suggested, and they came out fabulous! This really is a great/easy recipe and I think it can be adapted to other fruits.....I highly recommend the pear and dried cranberry version, although will definitely try the apple version because I love everything apple. Thank you Ina for another wonderful recipe!

Yummy! After reading reviews, I added a bit more sugar than the recipe called for, but it still could have used a touch more. I think I will also add add a bit more cinnamon. Overall, though - very good!

These were delicious, but I took the advice of others and added a bit more sugar and I think it still could have used a little more. I have decided on the next batch to spread the square with Smuckers Apple Cinnamon Preserves before adding the filling to give it a little more bubbly flavorful filling. A keeper for sure!
