Definately different. I ate the pinapple for dessert by itself. My mixture made 6 patties. The sauce tasted weird alone, but combined with the sandwich, it was really good

It sounds great and I want to make it but have questions for those who've already reviewed. Why do you cook the sausage? Are you cooking it through? It seems like it would be difficult to incorporate cooked sausage into raw beef?

I left out the sausage. The mayo spread is awesome. I used potato bread and it worked well.

This is what we call our Portuguese burger. We are of that decent and used churico for a little more kick instead of the linguica. We live in Florida now and could not get the wonderful Portguese sweet bread so I substituted it with hawiian bread that has sweetness to it and it is also made in hamberger shaped buns now.It worked out well and it was a plesant meal to eat and quite good. Will certainly make this again.Used very lean beef because the sausage had enough fat to keep the beef moist. The fresh pineapple was a plus but surely could used canned pinapple rings as a substitute.

This was a hit with our friends. After watching the episode we thought we would give it a try and we weren't disappointed. However, we couldn't find the sausage it called for so we got the regular kind and loved it!

Third time making these and they just get better. Have a hard time finding the right rolls but the Kings Hawaiin Rolls work in a pinch - just keep 4 togehter and they work great.

I really enjoyed the different flavor of this burger what with the mayo/orange condiment and the slice of pineapple was a great touch..however...was unable to find the portuguese sweet roll, which I think may make a big difference.
If anyone knows where to get these I would love to know...been searching for months..specialty shops???
If anyone knows where to get these..please e-mail to sunshine3490@aol.com...thanks

My family and I enjoyed this recipe. I was only able to find fully cooked linguica. So I just minced it in a food processor and then combined it with the remaining ground meat. The pineapple and cilantro gave it a fresh taste. I did not have access to Portuguese buns, so I just used regular hamburger buns.
